On Saturday, August 3rd, 2013 – the Legion Riders met up at the Post and then rode out on an honor ride to the Blue Mountain Grill in Acme, where they gathered to place plaques on the Riders Remembered Memorial Wall in memory of John Fassett and Jim Langei. It was a beautiful day for a ride to remember two very wonderful men.
The weather was perfect with Big billowy clouds, “Just right” temperatures and the sun even peeked out from behind the “Fluff” now and again to lighten the mood.
We arrived at the Blue Mountain Grill and enjoyed breakfast and fellowship together before gathering around the beautiful Memorial Wall that has been put together by “BRO” (Bikers Reaching Out.)
Our Chaplain, Chris Moran, shared some thoughts and called for Prayer and invited others to share stories about John and Jim. There were tears and laughter all around. Lee from BRO presented John’s wife and Jim’s Son with copies of the plaques that were made and then we gathered around to watch as they were placed on the wall.
The Legion Riders all come from different walks of life. We all have our own passions and our own dreams….but we are a family.
We spend our time together, making memories, sharing stories, laughing and loving each other and when one of our members is lost – we all feel it in our own different ways. Knowing that when we are missing one of our own and we just want to go for a ride and spend time lost in those memories and that we now have a place to stop and “visit” them for a while…is wonderful.
Thank you to the Blue Mountain Grill for hosting the Memorial Wall and providing a place for us to gather and honor our fallen.
Thank you to Lee and the members of “BRO” who put the plaques together, gather donations, get them printed, come out to place them on the wall and give this gift to these families and friends.
With the help of individual and business sponsors, BRO makes it possible to provide these plaques for the families of the fallen Riders – free of charge. (If you would like to make a donation and help make it possible for more families and loved ones to get plaques placed for their fallen ones – please visit their website and make a donation.)
